In this boxing event between two welterweight fighters, Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and Shane Mosley of the United States, the Filipino champion and a congressman in his country - Pacquiao is still the crowd's favorite - you can see the evidence from different polls online or offline, check out mine on the sidebar of this blog. Despite the fact that the American boxer was known for having an impressive boxing career and record of 46-6-1.
Here are the reasons why Pacman is the crowd's favorite and not Sugar Shane - IMHO.
- People see victories not losses. Pacman won his past several fights making him to top the ranking of pound for pound ladder. Meanwhile, Shane got lost his previous fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and draw against Mora - making him to leave a not so nice impression for boxing fans.
- They see him as very old and slow and can't keep up with the fast and furious offenses of much younger opponent.
- He already lost his shine because of his age and people believe that he should retire.
- Pacquiao is really stronger than him in any angle they look. Even the guy that beats him dock him for several times because of fear of loosing.
Why I think that Mosley might have a chance?
Well one thing that I see is that Mosley is still strong despite his age. I see Manny as not really focus but interrupted and distracted which might cause a failure of his training. Mosley got still that strong push to beat the younger opponent which makes him very determined to win. Pacquiao is a mine of gold and his shine is enough for Mosley to train much harder just to harvest the lucrative triump.
